The Oldest of Old

Piękne widoki na Rzym, rozciągające się z wielu miejsc rozsianych po całym 'starym' mieście.
Beautiful views of Rome that could be seen from many places spread around the entire 'old' town.



Pierwszego pełnego dnia naszego pobytu w Rzymie, wybraliśmy się na zwiedzanie Forum Romanum. Na początku planowaliśmy dostać się do Koloseum, stając się tym samym książkowym przykładem przeciętnego turysty. Jednak kiedy dotarliśmy na miejsce i zobaczyliśmy niemal niekończącą się kolejkę, jasnym stało się że nie będziemy w niej kwitnąć czekając na dostanie się do środka. Później jednak okazało się, że jeśli zdecydujemy się na zwiedzanie Forum Romanum, bilet upoważni nas także do wstępu do Koloseum i uratuje przed tkwieniem w niebotycznie długiej kolejce. Na całe szczęście wizyta w tym pierwszym miejscu nie zawiodła - niektóre ruiny były na prawdę imponujące i zasługiwały na podziw nad pomysłowością i zaradnością starożytnych rzymian. Koloseum natomiast, okazało się być owiane legendą wspaniałości, jaka towarzyszy niejednemu popularnemu zabytkowi.

On our first full day in Rome we went to see the Roman Forum. The original plan was getting into the Colosseum and becoming a classic example of a proper tourist. But when we started with the sightseeing and saw an endless queue lined up for the ticket hall, it became clear that we are not going to become a part of it just to get inside. Later we found out that if we decide to go to the Roman Forum, the same ticket will allow us to get into the Colosseum as well and save from being stuck in the gigantic queue. Luckily, our visit to the first sight wasn't disappointing - some of the ruins were really impressive and deserved the admiration for inventiveness and resourcefulness of the ancient Romans. At the same time, Colosseum turned out to be just yet another famous sight that everyone is craving to see.

Po kilku godzinach spędzonych na specerowaniu wokół Forum Romanum, wybraliśmy się na jeszcze dłuższy spacer po centralnej części Rzymu.
After spendin few hours on walking around the Roman Forum, we went for a really long walk around the central part of Rome.




Pomimo tego że centrum miasta jest na prawdę ładne, ilość obecnych tam turystów praktycznie uniemożliwiała nacieszenie się nim.
As nice and beautiful as the city was, the amount of fellow tourists made it impossible to enjoy what Rome had to offer.
