Jerez de la Frontera

Za napisanie tego posta zabieram się już od dobrych dwóch tygodni. Jak widać, nawet Chłopiec zdążył wyprzedzić mnie w dodaniu czegoś sensownego na moim własnym blogu. Poprzedni post jego autorstwa był dla mnie miłą niespodzianką, choć nie powiem, nie obyło się bez sprzeciwów z mojej strony. Jak widać, bezskutecznych.
Dziękuję Wam też za wszystkie miłe komentarze, które pojawiły się pod ostatnim postem!

It took me two weeks to start with this post. And, as you could see for yourself, even the Boyfriend found some time to write a post on my own blog. The last one, which was written by him, was a nice surprise and of course, I couldn't do without some protests, which in the end occurred to be inconclusive.
Also, I'd like to thank you all for the nice comments!


Przed dwoma tygodniami, razem z Elim oraz Asią i Martą które także są w Sewilli na Erasmusie, wybraliśmy się do Jerez de la Frontera, które znane jest w Andaluzji jako stolica sherry. Jego sława pochodzi także od sztuki jeździectwa i dużej wagi przywiązywanej do koni, ich hodowli i późniejszej sprzedaży na aukcjach. Nas z kolei przyciągneła tam chęć tanich zakupów, których w efekcie i tak nie zrobiliśmy.
Miasto było celem naszej podróży piątek. Spędziliśmy tam zaledwie kilka godzin, ale to w zupełności wystarczyło, by zobaczyć najważniejsze zabytki, odpocząć i wyruszyć w dalszą drogę do Kadyksu.

Two weeks ago, together with Eli, Asia and Marta (who are also doing their Erasmus exchange in Sevilla), we made our way to Jerez de la Frontera, known in Andalusia as the capital of sherry. Its' fame also comes from the equestrian art, a big focus on horses, breeding them and later selling on auctions. We, on the other hand, were attracted to the city by a possibility of the budget shopping, which in the end, we didn't end up doing.
The city was our destination on the Friday. We spent only few hours there, but it was just enough to see the most important sights, before seting off to Cadiz.


Do Jerez dotarliśmy pierwszym autobusem jadącym z Sewilli. Niestety pogoda od samego rana nas nie rozpieszczała, ale na chwilę przed wjazdem do Jerez zza chmur zaczęło wyglądać słońce. Tak, pozostało już aż do momentu kiedy dotarliśmy wieczorem do ekstremalnie deszczowego Kadyksu.
Zwiedzanie Jerez zaczęliśmy od zobaczenia Pałacu Królewskiego, w którym spędziliśmy dużą część popołudnia. Zaczęliśmy od Camery Obscury, gdzie zobaczyliśmy piękną panoramę miasta. Resztę popołudnia spędziliśmy już na spacerowaniu po pałacu i ogrodach, które były jego częścią.

We got to Jerez on the first bus from Seville. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't very encouraging that early in the morning. Luckily for us, just before getting to Jerez, the sky started to clear up and this weather stayed with us until getting to an extremely rainy Cadiz, later that day.
The Royal Palaces were the first thing that we started with, while exploring Jerez, and in the end we spent most of the afternoon there. A must-see was the Camera Obscura with a beautiful, panoramic view over the city. After the Camera Obscura, we kept exploring the palace and gardens, which contained an array of historical architecture and fortifications.


Na sam koniec, wybraliśmy się jeszcze do pobliskiej katedry, gdzie jak się później okazało, znajdowały się relikwia Jana Pawła II, którego pomniki można spotkać w Hiszpanii na każdym kroku.
Po krótkiej wizycie w katedrze, wybraliśmy się już tylko na obiad i ruszyliśmy w dalszą drogę do Kadyksu.

At the very end, we made our way to a nearby cathedral, where, as we found out later, the relics of John Paul II were kept.
After a short visit to the cathedral and a quick dinner, we continued our journey to Cadiz.
