Once Upon a Time

Siema Siema y'all, okay so I can't speak polish, nor am I American. But I am Marta's boyfriend. As I type this, Martousha is dying of embarrassment, so I apologise if there are no future posts.

Real time experiences: "No! No!" she exclaims, as I type out my post, although she calms down as I let her borrow my macbook.

I'm sure all of you can already tell my writing style is a little different to Marta's: probably a little random and not as polished (yes, pun intended). Sorry if thats a lame joke/"suchar" ;)

Curious to know who I am? How we met? Where Marta has been hiding me?

Let's see... Well, my names Eli. You can pronounce it either the European way or the English way, I'm used to both. I'm Australian (*dramatic sounds* :O "How is that possible?!?! Marta with an aussie boyfriend?! Nooooo wayyyyy" - sorry, that's the response we've been joking about xD).

I'm a chemistry student back home, but I decided to take a year off my studies and travel Europe before the end of the world (who knows right?).

Anyways, I went to London for a week, to meet up and explore the city with a Polish friend of mine. The 2nd night in we went out to meet a couple of their friends living in London, and voilà! Marta meets Eli, Eli meets Marta. Nothing fancy, no bangs and whistles (okay, maybe one or two), just a simple interest in each other and a desire to stay in contact.

After a month or so we decided to do some travelling together and I wonder if anyone can guess where we went?

Off topic, but I would just like to mention the fact that the button for the letter "L" on her keyboard is loose, and it's driving me nuts! ><

So... what were we talking about?? Zombies... Travelling... Ahhh yes, that's right! Marta has a boyfriend? Yep :) I'm probably kind of annoying her right now, with writing this post and all, but she did agree to it, so nah nah Marta :P

I may try and write another one soon about our most recent trip: Cadiz. For the moment though, I would like to send a hello out to Olmong (haha ;D), and of course a thank you (dziękuje) too all who follow. :)

Plaza de España

Po wizycie na Festival de las Naciones, wybraliśmy się na spacer po Parque de Maria Luisa oraz zwiedzanie Plaza de España. Obydwa miejsca warte są uwagi, szczególnie przy tak pięknej pogodzie, jak ta, która dopisała nam przed dwoma tygodniami.

After the visit to Festival de las Naciones, we went for a walk around the nearby Parque de Maria Luisa and sightseeing of Plaza de España. Both places are worth visiting, especially with such a beautiful weather like the one we had two weeks ago.

Co prawda to dopiero piątek, ale w tym tygodniu dla mnie weekend zaczyna się trochę wcześniej. Jestem teraz w drodze do Jerez de la Frontera, gdzie (w bardzo dobrym towarzystwie) spędzę resztę dnia. Pod wieczór wyruszymy do Kadyksu, gdzie spędzimy resztę weekendu a w niedzielę wieczorem, wrócimy do naszej sewilskiej codzienności. Miejmy nadzieję, że miło spędzimy weekend i dzięki temu z dawką nowej energii wrócimy do codziennych obowiązków. A ja powrócę do stolicy Andaluzji z całą masą nowych zdjęć, którymi będę się mogła z Wami podzielić.

It's only Friday, but for me the weekend begins a bit earlier this week. I'm on my way to Jerez de la Frontera, where (with a very good company) I'll spend the rest od the day. In the evening we will make our way to Cadiz and stay there for the rest of the weekend. On Sunday evening we will be back to our sevillian reality. Hopefully we'll have some nice time and thanks to that, full of energy, we will return to our day-to-day life. And I'm hoping to go back with a whole bunch of new photos that I will be able to share with you.


A teraz już wracając do prawdziwego tematu posta, jak wspominałam ostatnio, dodaje zdjęcia z Festival de las Naciones.
Sama idea festiwalu na prawdę przypadła mi do gustu, pomysł na podzielenie się tym, co do zaoferowania mają różne kultury zawsze jest ciekawy. Niestety trochę zawiodła mnie niezbyt imponująca różnorodność. Nie udało mi się spróbować smakołyków, króre zdominowały market, więc myślę że zawitam tam po raz kolejny, żeby dać wydarzeniu jeszcze jedną szansę.

Now, back to the original topic of this post, as I've mentioned last time, I'm sharing the photos from Festival de las Naciones.
The idea of the Festival itself seemed really appealing, sharing different cultures with people is always interesting. Unfortunatelly, I got a bit dissapointed with not overly impressive variety of this Festival. I didn't get the chance to try some of the offered delicacies that dominated the market, so I suppose I will be back there soon, to give that place one more shot.

The Latest Buy

W miniony weekend wybraliśmy się na odbywający się teraz w Sewilli Festival de las Naciones. Innymi słowy: jedzenie, ubrania, biżuteria, dodatki i rozrywka - wszystko pod jednym adresem, w samym centrum miasta.
Więcej zdjęć z samego festiwalu/marketu dodam już wkrótce, a tymczasem umieszczam zdjęcia łupu, z którego jestem najbardziej zadowolona.

This past weekend, we made our way to the Seville's Festival de las Naciones. In other words, a market with food, clothes, accessories and entertainment activities - all going on in the heart of Seville.
I will add more photos from the festival very soon and for now I'll share some pictures of the 'trophy' that I am most proud of.

Looking Back to the Summertime

Z braku innego materiału na nowe posty, zaczęłam przeszukiwać moje foldery ze zdjęciami. Te, które dodaję dziś chyba idealnie nadają się na powakacyjne refleksje - zrobiłam je jeszcze na początku lipca, kiedy wyjazd do Sewilli stawał się coraz bardziej realny i czas było zabrać się za hiszpański.
Kiedy teraz patrzę za okno, ciężko mi uwierzyć że wakacje nie dobiegły jeszcze końca. Jednak sprawdzając prognozę pogody dla Polski czy Londynu, wyobrażam sobie jak bardzo bym cierpiała znajdując się gdziekolwiek indziej niż w Andaluzji. W ciągu ostatnich tygodni, pogoda nie przekracza przyjemnych 32°C, a mnie udało się spędzić jeden z ostatnich weekendów na wygrzewaniu się na plaży i pływaniu w (o dziwo) ciepłym oceanie. Sama chyba nie dowierzam swojemu szczęściu.

I've run out of the new material for posts, so I just went through the folders with 'old' photos. The pictures that I'm posting today are perfect for the 'after-summer' reflections. I took those photos back in July, when my departure to Sevilla started to become more real with every day. Which was also a sign that it's high time to start practising Spanish.
When I look outside of the window now, I find it hard to believe that it's already October and summer holidays have already finished. And when I check the weather forecast for Poland or London, I can imagine my suffering, if I would be anywhere else than Andalusia. During the last couple of weeks, temperatures haven't exceeded the nice 32°C, and I've managed to spend a nice weekend on the beach, swimming in the pleasantly warm Ocean. I think that I can't believe how lucky I've been lately.

The City of Kings

W czasie mojej kilkudniowej, sierpniowej wizyty w Polsce, udało mi się zawitać na chwilę w Krakowie.
To zdecydowanie moje ulubione polskie miasto, może dlatego, że mam wiele wspomnień związanych z tym miejscem. Duża część mojej rodziny mieszka właśnie tam, dlatego dorastając często miałam okazję spędzać czas w Krakowie.
Tym razem, zaraz po przyjeździe skierowałam moje kroki w stronę Kazimierza, dzielnicy żydowskiej. Dużo zabytków, bogata historia, liczne synagogi, niezliczone restauracje i kawiarnie, przyciągają do Kazimierza - jak i zresztą całego Krakowa - turystów z różnych części świata.

During my short visit to Poland this past August, I managed to go to Cracow for a day.
It's definitely my favourite polish city, maybe because I have a lot of memories connected with that place. A big part of my family lives there, so growing up I used to spend a lot of time in Cracow.
This time, right after arrival I headed towards Kazimierz, the Jewish area. Many sights, rich history, loads of synagogues, countless restaurants and coffee shops, attract to Kazimierz - and Cracow itself - tourists from around the world.
