The Weekend's Distraction

Under this post name I'll try to add other CD every week and in few words try to describe why that's the one I decided to write about. I think I'll start from those that are on top of the list of my favourite LPs. But sometimes this might just be something that I liked that week.

Dużo tu cięższych brzmień, imponujących gitar no i oczywiście nieodłączna obecność pianina.

Ja wolę tłumaczyć to sobie jako eksperymentowanie i szukanie czegoś nowego, czym można by zadowolić fanów.

For starters I chose something I like to go back to - no matter from the time of the day or year - Muse "Origin of Symmetry". According to my iTunes library this CD was played most often. And it definitely was the reason why I started to adore the band.

You can hear here how cleverly band starts mixing different styles, what with time was the ability they developed and what later became their hallmark. The CD is rich in heavier sounds, impressive guitars and inseparable presence of the piano. Here and there some electro sounds can be spotted. Every song leaves us different impression. And that is something I really appreciate - the CD helps to awaken feelings. And besides that it doesn't fall in the typical "second CD syndrome". Mostly after first LP's success bands try so hard to release something good (or just don't care any more) that I'm always frightened of what I'm about to hear. Luckily this doesn't apply to Muse. Well, at least not with their second CD.

I've got an impression that any other piece they released wasn't that good any more. Is it just an accident or an intentional experimenting with their style - that's something we won't know. I'd rather tell myself that it's experimenting and searching for new things they could amaze their fans with. But I'm a bit scared that it may be the fault of the fame that came to them together with this LP (the late "second CD syndrome"?). The desire of finding bigger audience which unfortunately is connected with commercialism. Obviously this doesn't mean that Muse's music became commercial - however they are not the same they used to be before "Origin of Symmetry". But on the other hand it's all about changes, isn't it?
